Candidacy Requirements

All candidates for general assembly or local office must declare their intention in the Office of the Canvassing Authority on the last Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of June in the year of the election.

Candidates filing a declaration for party nominations must be disaffiliated from any other political party at least ninety (90) days prior to filing their declaration of candidacy. City of Newport elections are non-partisan.
